What’s happening in the Sheep in June

The Sheep River Area in Kananaskis Country has seen many changes over the years. Recently many of the trail names were changed in the Gorge Creek area after the closure of  Gorge Creek Trail Road and the undesignation and decommissioning of older trails.

Gillean’s Kananaskis Country Trail Guide Vol 2 is finally making its way into the stores, at least into the independent book stores. In Calgary it is available from Pages and Owl’s Nest and in Canmore at Café Books.

Shell has a project called FuellingChange that gives a total of $1 million to environmental projects and organizations selected by voters. At the moment the Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association’s trail building project is ranked number 1 in the $25,000 category. With your help GBCTA can receive up to $25,000 towards their trail construction program, with the potential to be matched with a provincial facilities grant.

Still Winter Chester Lake–Burstall Pass Area

Trailhead information kiosk at Chester Lake trailhead April 28th. The supports broke due to the amount of snow sitting on the little roof.  Alf Skrastins says “It’s fully winter out there now!”
