Interactive West Bragg Trails Map

by Tony Daffern on February 15, 2012

Interactive map West BraggExperience Mountain Parks have added a new page to their website with a fully interactive map featuring the West Bragg Creek – Elbow Valley trails. If, for example, you click on Snagmore in the box (top left) the map moves to focus on the Snagmore trail. They plan to add trail descriptions soon, to produce a novel interactive trail guide to the area.

Unfortunately for trail users, West Bragg has no Park designation, it’s just Public Land open to logging, and oil and gas exploration.

Had a really nice stroll up Snagmore Hill today (Sunday 26th Feb). Very well signed – you can’t go wrong. And it’s a gentle grade – perfect for a short half-day stroll. The maps at the main trail junctions are a duplicate of the interactive map shown above. Just a bit cold on the hands this morning needing good gloves. Was walkable (recommend MICROspikes) altho I put on my snow shoes for the return journey down Iron Springs and Elbow Trails for extra traction.

Snagmore is a great winter walk/snowshoe trail that should still be good after the logging. You might also like this combination of trails http://kananaskisblog.com/winter-walk/2012/
