Hogarth Lakes is a pretty short loop of 4.25 km, so we decided to extend the trip by taking in French Creek waterfall as well, which made a total distance of 7.8 km. The French Creek option by itself is 4.3 km return. The trail up French Creek to the creek crossing was well packed by snowshoers and skiers. It appeared the half kilometre to first waterfall had been snowshoed some time before the last big dump of snow. Anyway, we had to break trail anew along the logging road and creek bed. Don’t try going up the creekbed all the way; the creek is partially open and flowing quite strongly! Re Hogarth Lakes Trail, we did the loop in a clockwise direction and noticed the lack of markers between Burstall Creek crossing and the first lake. A number of side roads had obviously confused some people, and where you descend to the lake there is a post with no red marker. Some people had gone down to the lake. while others had carried on along the logging road and picked up the trail farther along. (The marking was fine after that, which makes me suspect one is supposed to snowshoe the loop anti-clockwise.)

Hi, cool site, good writing
I did the french creek trail last weekend and it was really nice, once we left the main trail, we basically had the forest to ourselves, it was great!
