Winter walk up Snagmore Hill | Trip Reports | Kananaskis Outdoors Forum

We had been hoping to snowshoe this trail!  Had a few hours off yesterday, so decided to walk it in the clockwise direction. Alf has already described this trail before on the blog so this is mainly a report on  conditions in the area.

First off, Elbow trail is a skating rink, Iron Springs a little less so with grass showing. Snagmore Hill trail to the summit was bare and it was noticable that while there was no snow under the mature trees, there was snow in the plantations  and meadows. Sunbathed on the top in the grass—the sun actually felt warm— then started down to the viewpoint. Again, no snow. Only met snow as neared Elbow trail. Avoided the downhill (luge run) on Elbow trail by walking down the bank in the aspens to the meadow and turning right.

Met 6 mountain bikers and 2 runners, all going in the opposite direction.
