Alerted to the existence of the Hunchback Hills by Daffern, 4th ed, v. 4, we climbed the first of them on 9 July. The description of the hike is generally good, but our outing suggests some important additions to it. First, note that there are two starting points from Lusk Pass Trail. One  is that given by Daffern, which we calculated to be at GR422508. As she says a faint trail heads of northeast. The other is further east at GR429507; it is marked by two orange flags and now a small cairn, which we built. We followed the first to the summit and came back by way of the second. Trails are vague throughout, which is why we found it wise to stay within view of the east edge of the ridge, made easier by the fact that much of the way it is marked by rock outcrop. The orange flags are well-placed for about the first third of the

climb, becoming more sporadic after that. The ascent onto the ridge is somewhat more gradual starting at GR422508 compared with that starting at 429507.

The other additions have to do with elevation gain: we recorded 460m from the trail head on Powderface Trail. We topped out at the (now) large cairn at 2114m at GR425527. Finally the two grassy steps mentioned in Daffern’s description are no longer discernable as grassy. But that in no way hindered our trek to the top, where as she writes, there is “an exceptional viewpoint.”
