Lots of helicopter flights in the Spray Valley today as they initiated the north guard burn for the Buller Creek fire. I was at Parks Day at Bow Valley Provincial Park on Sunday, and was talking to the fire crews about their plans. My understanding is that even though it is not in the burn area, they will be closing the Rummel Lake and Pass trails during certain phases of the burn operation.

There was already a pile of smoke by 2:30 PM on the northern limit of the prescribed burn area.

Notification of the burn, including a map, was posted on the Kananaskis Notices on July 18, but full info is available here:
