Is there such a thing as multi-use trails?” Sounds good on paper, but do they actually work in practice? I have my own view on this. I want to hear from everyone before the next go-around on May 5

Survey on Economic Impact of Trail Use

Ever wonder how much of an impact our sport and use of trails has on our local economy?  The Calgary Mountain Bike Alliance and Mount Royal College are conducting a Survey on the economic impact of trail use.  It not only relates to Mountain biking, but to all trail use, including cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking.

Support the West Bragg Fundraiser March 12

The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association is holding a Fundraiser 6:00 pm March 12 at the Snowbirds Chalet on Balsam Avenue (beside the mall). Funds raised will go towards development of new trails in the West Bragg Creek area.

Proposed New Campgrounds in Kananaskis Valley

Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation is proposing to develop the area along the Lower Kananaskis River between Canoe Meadows and Barrier Dam. Canoe Meadows would be re-built to accommodate special events, river recreation, and to act as a multi-function camping area. Chester Lake Ski Trail now one-way

The lower (old logging road) sections of the Chester Lake trail have been designated as one-way trails. The more popular and slightly steeper west branch is marked for downhill travel only. The very slightly longer east branch is designated for uphill travel only. In other words, you are now expected to ski these two trails [...]

Bookmark this new Kananaskis Area Website

A new website was launched January 1 to provide information on the Kananaskis Country gateway communities of Millarville, Turner Valley, Black Diamond, and Longview. Diamond Valley’s Open Roads will cover community events, dining, boutique shopping opportunities and activities for locals and visitors.

KTAG MEETING 2010

This meeting of the Kananaskis Trails Advisory  Group was the first under the new terms of reference and for the first time included representatives from  motorized clubs and associations, as well as from the ranching community.

Snow Season is Here!

Kananaskis Country has just experienced a remarkably quick transition from fall to winter. On Monday, I was hiking along McConnell ridge in shirtsleeves on dry ground. By Wednesday, I was skiing on the Ribbon Creek trails.
