It’s flower time in the high country

During the last few years Alf  Skrastins has been taking some really fine photos of  flowers in Kananaskis Country. I note he has more pics of flowers than of views and people these days. Here are just a few of this year’s pics.

New West Bragg Trails

The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association is well on its way to fulfilling their goal of completing construction of 45 km of new trails in the West Bragg Creek area by the end of this season. So far, about 41 km of trails have been flagged and roughly cleared and with about 30 km of that cleared to the 5’ wide by 10’ high standard.

Cable on Backside of Yam Replaced by Chain

Following a National Trails Roundtable in Banff in November 2010, a survey has been developed aimed at ” … all Canadians who use motorized or non-motorized recreational trails, or who develop, build, maintain, fund or advocate for trails in their area. Check out the Press Release.

New iPhone App – Kananaskis Trails Companion

This new iPhone/Pad app, $4.99 from the App Store, will be of interest to visitors to Kananaskis Country and the Canadian Rockies. Presented by Dave Birrell, who developed peakfinder.com, Kananaskis Trails Companion is compilation of information about Kananaskis Country’s mountains, lakes and trails.

Have a say in the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan!

What’s happening in the Sheep in June

The Sheep River Area in Kananaskis Country has seen many changes over the years. Recently many of the trail names were changed in the Gorge Creek area after the closure of  Gorge Creek Trail Road and the undesignation and decommissioning of older trails.
