Coyote Moon – Cantina & Espresso Bar – Turner Valley

by Tony Daffern on January 12, 2011

When we go down to the Sheep River area of Kananaskis Country we often get up early and drive to Turner Valley for breakfast. One of our favorite places is Coyote Moon, one block north of the main junction on Hwy 22 (Main Street).  It has a pleasant, rustic atmosphere with local art (for sale) on the walls and friendly staff.

Looking for a Curry on the Way Home ?

by Tony Daffern on April 17, 2010

Looking for a curry on the way home from Kananaskis Country? Try the Mehtab in Cochrane for some of the best East Indian food in the Calgary area. The food is delicious and includes several dishes not offered by Calgary restaurants such as Chicken Kalimirch, a creamy dish of chicken simmered in cashew paste and wine with black peppers.

High Country Cafe

A bacon & egg breakfast place near Millerville on the way to Turner Valley from Calgary that is open early (6:00 am on weekdays, 8:00 am weekends) and is good value for your money.

Black Diamond Hotel Bar & Restaurant

by Tony Daffern on July 20, 2009

The bar at the Hotel in Black Diamond is one of the best bars in the Foothills. An ideal watering hole after a hard day’s hiking in the Sheep or Highwood.
